The Canadian Mining Industry Research Organization, CAMIRO,
is a not-for-profit organization run by the mining industry to manage
collaborative mining research. Former multi-sponsored research efforts MRD, MIROC, and MITEC, have been
amalgamated in CAMIRO to improve service, reduce duplication and increase
efficiency of administrative expenditures.
What are the Divisions
There are three divisions of CAMIRO;
Exploration, Mining, and Metallurgical Processing and each division operates as a separate entity. The CAMIRO
mandate is industry driven.
Industry voluntarily staffs the
Board of Directors and Management Committee of each Division.
CAMIRO contributes
to the safety, profit, competitiveness and growth of the Canadian mineral industry by
initiating and managing applied collaborative research to improve the technology and
reduce the costs of exploration, project development, mining and processing of mineral
deposits.
